Hardly a year old, Google Assistant is growing in leaps and bounds and has already taken over our homes, phones, and cars.
Now, it is spreading its wings into the TV’s and watches field. Shield TV console in conjunction with Nvidia will be rolled out first and is set to launch Google Assistant into the small screen.
All Android TV devices will be compatible with Google Assistant in a new software update that Google has just announced and in will be available in the coming few months.
In addition to the Nvidia box which Google had previously announced, Assistant will work with all Android TV’s in the United States which will be running Marshmallow or Nougat. This will also include Sharp Aquos, Sony Bravia, Xiaomi Mi Box and Dish’s new Air TV.
The workings will be very simple. Just by pressing the ‘OK’ button, users will be able to access Assistant to do an array of chores like to ask the usual questions, play movies selected by the user, control smart devices and discover new content.
Another line of features is already in the works according to Google who is bent on opening new technological fronts, like smart watches which will run Android Wear 2.0 as well as Android-powered in-car infotainment systems. Which will be similar to the one launched by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles only a week ago?
Despite the spirited competition, Google is determined to launch its home entertainment systems and TV will never be the same again with Assistant.
