GoPro is getting social in a big way, and they're hoping the new move resonates with their users.

GoPro HERO 4 owners now have access to a cool new feature: they can directly livestream to Periscope, allowing them to capture video in real time and sharing it with people rather than using a smartphone, according to a Wired report.

It is now possible to connect your GoPro to the Periscope app on your phone, making livestreamers rejoice -- although it might require the purchase of some accessories to get the full experience.

One thing you'll need is a mount, perhaps one for a helmet or one to strap on your chest. You could also get a GoPro filter kit that will improve the look of your shots. A clip on-light could be useful at night or underwater.

When you pair your GoPro with your iPhone, it will immediately recognize the Periscope app and allow sharing video with your live audience.

And that audience could grow, as Twitter announced not long enough that it would integrate Periscope in its feeds. There are a total of 10 million Periscope accounts and 40 years worth of video watch on Periscope every single day.

Livestreaming has grown in popularity tremendously, especially among teens, so this could be a boon to people who want to share their exploits -- whether that be skiing down a mountainside or jumping out of an airplane -- with all of their friends. This feature will make it easier for users of both GoPro and Periscope to do that.
