Jean Lapierre, a former congressional member in Canada, has passed away in a plane crash. He was traveling with his wife and two brothers and his sister who also died. The saddest part about the situation is that the family was coming from their father's burial at Iles-de-la-Madeleine.
Jean Lapierre is a very respected member in Canada as he had served as a minister of transport as a parliament member and political commentator due to his fluency in both French and English.
His close ties to the media led to many major media outlets to take to Twitter asking and hoping that he was not on the plane. The current Canadian prime minister also came out on Twitter to console the family stating he was very shaken. Former Prime Minister Paul Martin, who Jean Lapierre served under as the minister of transport, was also quite disturbed by the news, saying he was a wonderful person who loved everyone.
At the moment, the direct cause of the accident is unknown as police launch investigations. "The crash took place in a field on approach to the airport," said the cop official. "The weather was not ideal for flying, but we need to investigate further to get a direct cause."
The Canadian environmental department issued a statement earlier to all aircraft stating that there will be likely strong winds in the area. It is, therefore, a puzzle why the plane took off. They traveled in a Mitsubishi turboprop which is a small privately owned plane.
