The jury is still out whether kids really need fitness trackers to stay active, but Fitbit is here with a new product designed for kids regardless. The company has made it’s plunge into fitness trackers for children, with the release of it’s Fitbit Ace.
The product arrived just in time for the summer and is on sale now. The band was first announced earlier this year during the launch of the Versa Smartwatch.
The band is basic, and is essentially a repurposed Fitbit Alta, according to Cnet. That product has been available for two years, first hitting the market in 2016. The new Fitbit Ace is priced at $100 and can measure steps, count calories, and will be programed for fitness targets relative to kids. It doesn’t however, measure heart rate, and it is not waterproof, though it is shower level water resistant.
The band comes with pre-installed watch faces, and can receive on-screen message notifications for children with phones. It can last up to about 5 hours on a full charge. It is intended for children ages eight and up.
